ROYAL
DUTCH SHELL RE-ENTRY INTO OGONILAND
The National Union of Ogoni Students (NUOS INTL USA) has received credible report of Shell oil forceful re-entry into Ogoni
land to “start work on 170,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil production.” We are dismayed and outraged at
their professional thuggery. We have never seen, read or heard of a democratic nation where force instead of dialogue is used
to coarse citizens into submitting to the dictate of a corporation but Nigeria. Chief Obasanjo, the out going President of
Nigeria has demonstrated enough of this against the Ogoni people.
Ogonis are a peaceful and non-violent people and have demonstrated this for
over twelve years of agitation for self determination in Nigeria. Royal Dutch Shell has forcefully re-entered Ogoni land because
they want to ensnare Ogoni into the game of abducting foreign oil workers; which would then forestall their bright chances
of winning over it in an Ogoni class action lawsuit in the United States of America. We therefore call upon all Ogonis in
and around the globe and particularly those in Nigeria to unite against this Royal Dutch Shell incursion.
We also use this medium to alert Shell oil management and
employees that, we cannot guarantee the safety of any Shell employee in Ogoni territory. Therefore, they should resist the
temptation of being sent for oil drilling in Ogoni. Your safety is important.
We call on Shell Oil to observe restraint and respect the on going Ogoni class action
lawsuit against her in the United States of America.
In same vain, we advice Ogoni communities and individuals that have formed alliance with the Nigerian government and Shell
oil to withdraw such support because we must all guide against a repeat of the ugly incidence of the past.
Ogoni Students in diasporra shall not accept where
Ogoni land shall again be turned into battle ground because of personal greed against the collective survival of Ogoni people.
We issue this statement with an
ultimatum to Shell oil to vacate Ogoni land within 24 hours. Shell could only drill Ogoni Oil resources with the death of
the last Ogoni man.
Ogoni, Arise, We shall not be
oppressed.
