Dear Friends,
PETITION COUNTDOWN
Towards
the end of last year 2007, the National Union of Ogoni Students, USA initiated the OGONI STATE petition drive. It is our profound
thanks to all those who have appended their signatures on this historical document. At the same time, we are using this medium
to appeal to numerous others who hasn't signed the petition to do so because we are almost ready to collate it.
In
the coming weeks, we shall be collecting and collating the signatures in preparation for our journey to Nigeria. We are also
using this time to inform various State/ Chapter Co-coordinators to collect and submit all the signed petitions to any of
our officers or Secretariat as soon as possible.
We are also fervently appealing to all Ogoni citizens
to intensify their demand for the creation of an OGONI STATE knowing that we cannot achieve meaningful progress in Nigeria
in the present coarse system.
It
is only an OGONI STATE that could grant us adequate representation as a people within the present political context in Nigeria.
Considering the facts that all the states in Nigeria were created through military official fiat, your signatures on the civilian
creation of an Ogoni State shall remain historic in Ogoni, Nigeria and the world at large.
Again,
the National Union of Ogoni Students, USA is grateful to all of you for your political awareness in this crucial time in history.
Remember, Ogoni is your birth-right. Protect it zealously with all your strength.
Please visit: www.nuos-international.org and click on the petition link to register your name in the path of time. Forward to
your friends, colleagues, church members etc.
We appreciate you did. Thank you.
